Adena Friedman

Adena Friedman became President and Chief Executive Officer of Nasdaq on January 1, 2017, and is a member of the Board of Directors. She brings more than 20 years of industry leadership and expertise, and is credited with significantly shaping Nasdaq’s transformation into a leading global exchange and technology solutions company with operations across six continents.

Prior to being named CEO, Adena served as President and Chief Operating Officer throughout 2016 and was responsible for overseeing all of the company’s business segments with a focus on driving efficiency, product development, growth and expansion.
She rejoined Nasdaq in 2014, after serving as Chief Financial Officer and Managing Director of The Carlyle Group from March 2011 to June 2014 and playing a critical role in taking the company public in May 2012.

Before Carlyle, Adena was a key member of Nasdaq's management team for over a decade, serving in a variety of roles, including head of the company's data products business, head of corporate strategy and Chief Financial Officer. She played an instrumental role in Nasdaq’s acquisition strategy, overseeing the acquisitions of INET, OMX, and the Philadelphia and Boston Exchanges. She originally joined Nasdaq in 1993 as an intern.

Since December 2018, Adena has served as a Class B director to the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. She was elected to the Board of Directors of FCLTGlobal, a non-profit organization that researches tools to encourage long-term investing, in January 2020. Adena began her term as a member of the Vanderbilt University Board of Trust on July 1, 2020.

She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science from Williams College in Massachusetts and a Master of Business Administration from Vanderbilt University’s Owen Graduate School of Management.

Robin Washington

Robin L. Washington is currently a member of the Board of Directors of Alphabet, Inc., Honeywell International, Inc. and Salesforce.com. She currently serves as chair of the leadership development and compensation committee for Alphabet and chair of the audit committee for Salesforce.com.. She is also a member of the Presidents Council & Ross Business School Advisory Board, University of Michigan; the UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital Oakland, and a trustee of the Financial Accounting Foundation. Ms.Washington served as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Gilead Sciences, Inc., a research-based biopharmaceutical company that discovers, develops and commercializes innovative medicines to improve the care of patients with life-threatening diseases, from May 2008 – November 2019 where she oversaw Global Finance, Facilities and Operations, Investor Relations and the Information Technology organizations. She served as a Sr. Advisor to the Gilead until her retirement on March 1, 2020. Prior to Gilead, Ms. Washington was the Chief Financial Officer of Hyperion Solutions Inc., an enterprise software company providing business performance management solutions for global enterprises that was acquired by Oracle Corporation. Previously, she also served as Senior Vice President and Corporate Controller of PeopleSoft, a provider of enterprise application software that was also acquired by Oracle Corporation. Prior to PeopleSoft, Ms. Washington was Director of Finance for Tandem Computers, an Accounting Analyst for the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago, and a Senior Auditor for Deloitte & Touche. Ms. Washington is also a member of The Council on Foreign Relations and Executive Leadership Council. She has been recognized for her work on numerous occasions, including being awarded the 2019 Inspire Award by the San Francisco Business Times, Bay Area CFO of the Year Lifetime Achievement Award and Financial Woman of the Year by Financial Women of San Francisco in 2017. In 2017, she was recognized as the #1 CFO in Biotechnology by Institutional Investor Magazine and in 2014, she was recognized by The Wall Street Journal as one of the Top 10 Performing CFOs (#6) in the S&P 500. In 2011, Ms. Washington received the Graziadio Distinguished Alumnus Award from Pepperdine University. She has also been honored on numerous occasions as one of Silicon Valley’s and San Francisco Business Times Women of Influence and Black Enterprise’s 75 Most Powerful Women. Ms. Washington is a certified public accountant and holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Michigan and an MBA from Pepperdine University.

Byron Loflin

Byron Loflin is the Global Head of Board Engagement at Nasdaq, where he leads the Board Engagement team in providing a strategic, collaborative, and technology-based approach to support boards’ efforts in strengthening governance effectiveness.

The portfolio of governance services and products includes a variety of board, CEO, and management evaluations, streamlined Directors’ and Officers’ Questionnaire and pre-proxy disclosure processes, and the Nasdaq Boardvantage board portal.

Byron is the founder and former CEO of the Center for Board Excellence (CBE), which was acquired by Nasdaq in 2019. His experience and expertise are in the design and administration of evaluations, as well as advising boards, board chairs, CEOs, and executive management on board strategy.

Sarah Kirshbaum Levy

Sarah Kirshbaum Levy is the Chief Executive Officer of Betterment. Prior to joining Betterment, Sarah was the Chief Operating Officer at Viacom. During her time as COO of Viacom Media Networks, Levy oversaw global strategy, finance and operations for the $10Bn division that housed some of Viacom's iconic brands, including MTV, Comedy Central, and BET. Levy previously served as the Chief Operating Officer at Nickelodeon for over a decade. While at Nickelodeon, she drove expansion of the brand and business both organically and through acquisitions. She spearheaded Nickelodeon's entry into new segments generating more than $4Bn at retail, including digital gaming, consumer products, resorts, Broadway and theme parks, as well as subscription video on demand. Levy is currently a Board Member for The Lucius N. Littauer Foundation, Inc. (2012 to Present), ACON S2 Acquisition Corp (September 2020 to Present) and Funko (2019 to Present).

Karen Snow

Karen Snow is a Senior Vice President and Head of U.S. Listings and Revenue. In this role, Karen oversees the entire U.S. for initial public offerings (IPOs), Investor Relations (IR), ESG and Governance sales, as well as Listings and IR retention.

Karen brings a unique perspective to our team that is instrumental in solidifying Nasdaq’s close partnership with companies as they look to successfully raise capital in the public market. Her deep experience and knowledge of the investment community is a tremendous asset as Nasdaq continues to reignite the U.S. capital markets by proactively addressing challenges faced by companies seeking to go public.

Karen joined Nasdaq in December of 2018 after 18 years at Credit Suisse, where she was most recently the Head of NY Equity Sales and Managing Director, leading a team of 20 executives in diverse areas such as Strategic Planning, Account Management, Training & Development, and Compliance. In addition to her 13 years in Equities at Credit Suisse, Karen spent 5 years in investment banking where she worked on multiple IPOs, High Yield Financings, Bankruptcies and M&A situations. Karen received her BS with honors from Babson College and her MBA from the McDonough School of Business at Georgetown University. She is a Trustee of the Packer Collegiate Institute, and is also on the board of the Brooklyn Bridge Park Conservancy.

Lisa Shalett

Lisa Shalett is a former Goldman Sachs Partner who now serves as a corporate advisor and independent board director. Well-known as a trusted connector and sought-after thought partner, she has a remarkable breadth of leadership and operational experience over her 25+ year career. Lisa simplifies complexity, sees around corners, drives innovation, and consistently creates value. Having served on boards of every type (public, private equity-backed, venture capital-backed, family-owned, and non-profit), Lisa brings a deep understanding of stakeholder priorities and a vision of boardroom excellence.

Lisa is fascinated by risk and the value of seeking out multiple perspectives, two aspects of her background that have helped shape the approach and purpose of Extraordinary Women on Boards. While at Goldman Sachs, her experience as the Chief Operating Officer of Global Compliance, Legal and Audit enabled her to work with many of the most talented risk managers in the world, and learn the skill of asking smart questions. In her role leading Goldman’s brand during the financial crisis, she mastered how to navigate crises, articulate purpose, manage stakeholder relationships and communications, and strategically manage corporate reputation and brand in a digital world. Post-Goldman, in the startup ecosystem, Lisa embraced technology and helped large companies stay innovative and growth companies be disruptive. All of these skills have proven tremendously relevant to her boardwork, and led her to focus on ways board directors add value.

Lisa did not set out to create Extraordinary Women on Boards (EWOB); rather, it came about organically as Lisa responded to a pain point she heard repeatedly in 2016. Women joining corporate boards were finding themselves the only women on their boards, and were looking for an inclusive environment in which to meet other women directors, seek excellence in their boardwork, and benefit from the collective wisdom of a peer-to-peer community. The original group started to refer in other women directors, and the community kept growing, now representing hundreds of public and private for-profit boards. Having shifted to virtual, EWOB has proven to be an invaluable resource, especially during COVID amidst an onslaught of new and complex risks and considerations for companies and their boards.

Lisa currently serves on the boards of PennyMac Financial (NYSE: PFSI), on the Audit and Nominating/Governance Committees, AccuWeather (private, family-owned), where she leads the Marketing Committee, and digital agency Bully Pulpit Interactive (private, PE-backed). She has also served on the boards of Brookfield Property Partners (NASDAQ: BPY) and PerformLine (private, venture-backed). On the non-profit side, she chairs the board of Generation W, and serves on the International Advisory Board of French business school EDHEC. Her article Why Corporate Directors Need to Focus on Trust appeared in the People + Strategy Journal in Summer 2020.

Lisa has an MBA from Harvard Business School and a BA, summa cum laude, in East Asian Studies (Japan) from Harvard.

Joan Amble

Joan Amble previously served as Executive Vice President, Finance, and Comptroller for American Express, bringing decades of finance, accounting, and public company experience.
Joan has a storied career in finance. Prior to holding senior leadership roles at the American Express Company from 2003 to 2011, she served as Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer of GE Capital Markets, a service business within the General Electric Company, overseeing securitizations, debt placement, and syndication, as well as structured equity transactions. From 1994 to 2003, Joan served as Vice President and Controller for GE Capital Markets and GE Financial Services, Inc. Joan also served as non-executive director of Broadcom Corp. from 2009 to 2011 and Brown-Forman Corporation from 2011 to June 2016.

Amble also has extensive experience in corporate governance, serving on the Board of Directors of BuzzFeed as well as Zurich Insurance Group AG since April 2015, and on Booz Allen Hamilton Inc.’s Board of Directors since 2012. Amble also served on the board of Sirius XM Holdings Inc. from 2006 through June 2021. In addition, she has served as an independent advisor to the Control and Risk Committee of the Executive Committee of the U.S. affiliate of Société Générale S.A. since October 2016. Amble was a member of the Standing Advisory Group for the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB) from 2014 to 2020, and she was a member of the Financial Accounting Standards Advisory Council (FASAC) from 2007 through 2011. She is the president of JCA Consulting, LLC.

Throughout her career, Amble has been a tremendous advocate for the professional development of women in business. She is the co-founder of W.O.M.E.N. in America, a leadership program launched in the fall of 2009.

Jocelyn Mangan

Jocelyn Mangan is the CEO and Founder of Him For Her, a social enterprise whose aim is to change for-profit boards of directors to include the world’s most talented women. Previously, she held various executive positions at Snagajob, including serving as Chief Operating Officer and prior to that, as Chief Product and Marketing Officer. Earlier, Ms. Mangan was Senior Vice President Product at OpenTable. Ms. Mangan currently serves on the Board of Directors of ChowNow, Wag!, and Papa Johns. Ms. Mangan was honored as a member of the 2016 class of Henry Crown Fellows and the Aspen Global Leadership Network at the Aspen Institute. She was named to Fast Company’s 2015 list of “100 Most Creative People in Business” and to Business Insider’s 2014 list of the “32 Most Powerful Women in Mobile Advertising." She graduated from Vanderbilt University.

Jocelyn Moore

Jocelyn Moore is Senior Managing Director of Corporate Affairs at Pretium, a $40 billion specialized alternative investment management firm that is an innovator in single-family rentals, residential credit, and corporate structured credit. Her corporate board service includes serving as an independent director on the boards of DraftKings, a publicly-traded technology company (NASDAQ: DKNG) and OppFi, a publicly-traded financial technology company (NYSE: OPFI). She is also a board member of Pallas Advisors, a strategic advisory firm specializing in national security, defense, and innovation. In October 2021, she was appointed by the Biden Administration to serve on the board of the First Responder Network Authority (FirstNet Authority), a unique public-private partnership created after September 11th to provide a highspeed, nationwide, wireless broadband network for public safety. Previously, Jocelyn was Executive Vice President of Communications and Public Affairs at the National Football League (NFL). As the NFL’s Global Chief Communications Officer, Jocelyn was a member of the executive leadership team and responsible for managing corporate affairs at the 100-year-old professional sports league. She was a key architect of the league’s social justice efforts. Prior to joining the NFL, Jocelyn served as a Managing Director at The Glover Park Group, a leading government affairs and communications consulting firm. She also spent 15 years in the United States Senate in a variety of senior roles, including Deputy Staff Director of the Senate Finance Committee. Jocelyn serves as a director on several nonprofit boards: the International Social Service, USA, Board of Directors, where she is Chair of the Development and Communications Committee; the West Virginia University Health System Board of Directors, where she is a member of the Quality & Patient Safety Committee; the University of Florida Foundation National Board of Directors, where she is as a member of the Audit and Nominating Committees; the University of Florida Alumni Association Board of Directors, where she is a member of the Executive Committee; and the DC Rape Crisis Center Board of Directors, where she is a member of the Fundraising Committee. Jocelyn holds a B.A. in English and an M.Ed. in Student Personnel in Higher Education, both from the University of Florida.

Erika Moore

Erika Moore is Vice President, Deputy General Counsel and Corporate Secretary of Nasdaq, Inc. In this capacity, she is responsible for Nasdaq’s corporate governance and legal entity management programs.

Previously, she was AVP - Principal Associate General Counsel and Counsel to the Corporate Secretary at Nasdaq. In that role, she advised on corporate governance, public disclosure and executive compensation matters, as well as M&A and financing transactions. She also served as the Legal Relationship Manager to Nasdaq’s Finance Department, including its SEC Reporting, Investor Relations and Treasury functions.

Ms. Moore frequently works on Nasdaq’s public policy initiatives, including Nasdaq’s Revitalize blueprint for certain reforms of the U.S. public markets. During her fifteen years at Nasdaq, Ms. Moore also has provided advice on listings matters to Nasdaq’s Listing Qualifications Department and the Nasdaq Listing and Hearing Review Council.

Prior to joining Nasdaq in 2006, Ms. Moore practiced corporate and securities law at Fried, Frank, Harris, Shriver & Jacobson LLP. Ms. Moore received an A.B. in Economics and Public Policy from Duke University and a J.D. from Harvard Law School.

Diana Tidd

Diana Tidd serves as MSCI’s Chief Responsibility Officer, guiding Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) policies for the firm. She was appointed as the firm’s first Chief Responsibility Officer in 2018 and became fully dedicated to the role in 2022. She is also a member of MSCI’s Executive Committee.

From 2016 to 2022, Diana was MSCI’s Global Head of Index, overseeing all aspects of product management and business strategy. Under her leadership, the index business grew to over USD 16 trillion in total assets tracking MSCI indexes globally. Index segment revenue more than doubled over six years to USD 1.2 billion, and index subscription recurring revenue increased by 84%. Previously, Diana served as Head of Americas Client Coverage, in addition to a variety of other roles at MSCI.

Diana is an advisor to the Executive Diversity Council and the Employer Brand Council at MSCI. She co-founded in 2013, and now advises, MSCI’s global Women’s Leadership Forum. Previously, Diana was Chairperson of MSCI’s Index Risk and Regulatory Committee and served on the company’s 401(k) Committee.
Diana joined MSCI in 1999 from Brown Brothers Harriman & Co., where for five years she worked in the Risk and European teams, before becoming Head of the Asia Team for BBH’s global custody division. Diana started her career in the Trust and Estates division of the Private Bank at Bankers Trust Co.

Diana serves on the boards of directors of Women in ETFs U.S. and West Africa Village Education (WAVE). She served as Co-President of Women in ETFs in 2017 and 2018. In 2016, Diana was named by Money Management Executive as one of the Top Women in Asset Management.

Diana graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from Colgate University and received a master’s degree in Latin American Studies from Stanford University.

Anita Bhatia

Ms. Anita Bhatia is Assistant Secretary-General of the United Nations and Deputy Executive Director of UN Women. Ms. Bhatia has had a distinguished career at The World Bank Group, serving in various senior leadership and management positions, both at Headquarters and in the field. She brings extensive experience in the area of strategic partnerships, resource mobilization and management. Ms. Bhatia has served for several years as Director of Global Partnerships for the International Finance Corporation (IFC), the private sector arm of The World Bank Group. She developed and expanded innovative partnerships with public and private sector partners to support IFC strategy in key areas, including fragile and conflict-affected states, gender equality, financial inclusion, support to women-owned businesses and other priorities critical for the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). In addition, she has served as Director of Development Partner Relations for the World Bank in which she led efforts to ensure strategic alignment between institutional priorities and resource mobilization across the World Bank Group.

In various positions she focused on enhancing sustainability, institutional effectiveness and impact through strategic partnerships. As Head of IFC’s Latin America Advisory Operations, based in Lima and La Paz, she successfully grew the Corporation’s reach and impact in the region. As Director of Partnerships and Advisory Operations, she oversaw financial management, risk management, portfolio management, knowledge management and learning for Advisory Services across the globe. She has led diverse teams, including as Global Head of Knowledge Management, Head of Business Process Improvement and Head of Change Management. In addition to Latin America, she has worked in Africa, Europe, Central Asia and South and East Asia.

Ms. Bhatia holds a BA in History from Calcutta University, an MA in Political Science from Yale University and a Juris Doctor in Law from Georgetown University.

Dawn Jones

Dawn Jones is Intel Corporation’s Chief Diversity and Inclusion Officer (CDIO), and Vice President of Social Impact. In this role, she leads the company’s global diversity and inclusion (D&I) strategy. In addition, she oversees Intel’s investments and programs for positive global impact, including convening industry partners to create a more inclusive, equitable and responsible workplace and society.

Dawn’s philosophy that leadership is driven from any seat has propelled her 24-year career at Intel from Administrative Assistant to Public Affairs Manager of community and education investments to CDIO. Most recently, Dawn was Global Director of Policy, Strategy and Partnerships, responsible for Intel’s D&I policy, strategy, communications, external alliances and stakeholder engagement.

She earned a Bachelor of Arts in broadcast journalism from Arizona State University and a Master of Science in communications management from Syracuse University.

Erika Spence

Erika Spence leads strategy for long-only and hedge fund data at eVestment. Her focus is on increasing the depth, breadth and quality of the data eVestment collects from asset managers so that, ultimately, institutional investors and investment consultants can make better investment decisions. Prior to joining eVestment, Erika spent seven years at Cambridge Associates in the Manager Information Group and, later, in the firm’s Capital Markets Research.

Ann Dennison

Ann Dennison serves as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer at Nasdaq. With more than 20 years of experience in corporate finance, financial reporting and analysis, Ann leads a global team responsible for Corporate Finance (Controllers, Tax, Advisory Office), Treasury, Planning & Analysis, Investor Relations, ESG Reporting, Procurement and Real Estate, Facilities and Security.

Ann joined Nasdaq in 2015 as Senior Vice President, Controller and Chief Accounting Officer and was responsible for all areas of the company’s accounting, financial reporting, analysis, and disclosure, as well as budgeting and planning, tax, procurement and global accounting operations.

Prior to joining Nasdaq, Ann was a Managing Director and Head of Financial Reporting at Goldman Sachs. Ann holds a BBA/MBA, Accounting and Finance from Pace University’s Lubin School of Business.
